Metallurgy is the technology of metals, the way in which science is applied to their practical use. The term is nowadays distinguished from the craft of metalworking. Metallurgical Engineering is a broad field & an integral part of higher education in India, that deals with all sorts of metal-related areas.
The three main branches of this major are physical metallurgy, extractive metallurgy, and mineral processing. Physical metallurgy deals with problem solving. Extractive metallurgy involves extracting metal from ore. Mineral processing involves gathering mineral products from the earth’s crust.
